What's my name?

According to Chase, it's Gramcracker.  Chase came up with that name for me when he was 5 years old (he's 7 now) and I love it!  He's so creative!

I wrote on Sunday that I had a real, official birthday party.  One of the best parts, was the cards from the kids. They each wrote a note in their card, which I will treasure.

Chase addressed his card to "Gramcracker"  and I loved it.  I love that Chase has a special name for me.  But then... I love Chase.

First day thoughts from Chase

September 3, 2019

Today was Chase's first day of 2nd grade and from all reports, he's ready to be done.  Chase's opinion is that he hates school and loves summer.  He decided that he'd rather be home-schooled.  Maybe video games are more fun than school?

As lovable as he is - and as kind as he is, I can't imagine he'll be unhappy for long.

I would love to visit the inside of Chase's head long enough to experience that light..  It would be a mighty interesting adventure.

Name that Dinosaur

At Kate's softball game tonight (she won:  6-0), Chase was sitting on Michael's lap and asked Michael if he could see the pictures on Michael's phone. Michael told him that he could not and then asked Chase where HIS phone was.

"It's in my pocket", Chase said, dryly.  He reached into his pocket and pulled out an invisible phone.  With his hand cupped as if he really did have a phone, he held it up in the air for Michael to see.

"Let's look at your pictures, Chase."  Michael took the invisible phone from Chase and and with his index finger, Michael pretended to slide pictures across the screen.  Michael remarked that there were quite a few dinosaur pictures.  Tapping on an imaginary "picture" with his index finger, he asked Chase, "What kind of dinosaur is this?"

Without any hesitation, Chase replied, "That's a Fingersaurus".

How funny! Witty 5-year-old.  Michael and I were blown away!

Love that boy!

Applesauce

Chase
Born:  February 27, 2012
7th Grandchild

We went to Kate’s tournament soccer game at noon today.  Julie packed a bag for the kids with snacks and other “we’re-going-to-a-soccer-game” stuff.  Chase reached into the bag to get a banana, but the banana was on the bottom of the bag, completely squashed/mushed – oozing out of the skin.

Chase looked down at the fatally mangled banana.  “Well,” he said he to his dad, shrugging (and smiling).  “Well... that’s applesauce!”
